STEP 2: What Type Of Soap You Want To make
There are three main types of soap:
Liquid soap is usually used for hand washing, while bar soap is used for body washing. Liquid soap contains glycerin as one of its major ingredients. Glycerin helps prevent skin irritation caused by harsh chemicals found in many detergents. It also makes liquid soap easier to apply than bar soap.
Bar soap has two primary advantages over liquid soap. First, it lasts much longer than liquid soap. Second, it leaves behind less residue on clothes and fabrics. Because of this, bar soap is commonly preferred by commercial launderers.

Powder soap is made from sodium hydroxide, potassium carbonate, and coconut oil. Lye reacts with fats and proteins present in food items such as milk, eggs, meat, fish, cheese, butter, and cream. Stirring Tool: Used to mix ingredients evenly throughout the entire batch. Different types of stirring tools exist, ranging from wooden spoons to electric beaters. Whichever tool you choose, always remember to wear gloves!
Mold: Used to shape the final soap. Mold sizes vary according to what kind of soap you want to create. Round molds work well for creating bars of soap. Rectangular molds are used for making loofahs. Square molds are best suited for making cakes. Oval molds are great for making candles. Heart-shaped molds are useful when making bath bombs.
STEP 4: Process of Making Soap
1) Mixing Ingredients
The first step in soap making involves mixing the lye solution and oils. If you plan to make liquid soap, then add the lye slowly into the melted fat until dissolved. Otherwise, pour the lye into the heated oil and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir thoroughly after each addition. Once the lye solution is completely mixed in, remove the pot from the stove.
2) Adding Essential Oils
Add essential oils at this point if desired. You can use any type of essential oil, but lavender is most common. Add 1/4 cup of your chosen essential oil per pound of lye solution. This amount should cover about half of the surface area of the soap. Soap making business only needs creativity.
