The table and chart sections of this paper contain tables and charts, letter sequences, codes, and decodes, directions, blood relationships, binary logic, arrangements and ranking, and order.
They also contain Venn Diagram, arranging and analyzing the given dataset, and sufficient and necessary conditions in the logical reasoning part. There are around eight questions in the table and chart parts of this paper, and twelve questions in the logical reasoning part of this paper.
The Quantitative Reasoning section covers arithmetic, algebra, numbers, geometry, measurement, probabilities, sets, ratios, proportions, and equations. It also contains question types that include square roots, ratios and proportions, and geometric progressions.
The study material consists of both theoretical and practical aspects. It includes quizzes, current affairs questions, and daily general awareness questions. These are designed to test the student’s understanding of various concepts.
Each part of the exam has its own weighting and knowing this could help you understand which parts need more attention to get better scores in the exam. Below is an example of the weightage assigned to each subject in the last few years:
Changes in the CAT syllabus
As per our research, the CAT syllabus hasn’t seen any significant change over the last decade. However, there have recently been minor changes in the question pattern. In 2018, the CAT test consisted of 100 questions. From 2019 onwards, the CAT test has decreased to 76 questions. Further, in 2021, the CAT test will consist of only 66 questions.
As well as this, the total score was reduced from 300 to 198 points in 2020.

In general, we find that students who prepare well do better than those who don’t. While there are no guarantees, having a good grasp of the material should help them succeed. They should also know what questions to expect so they can plan accordingly.
