How Does Pipe Make Money?
Pipe, on average, charges a 1% fee per transaction. That fee is applied to both parties on each side of the transaction, the company selling ARR and the investor purchasing ARR. Pipe’s platform acts an exchange for its new asset class, recurring revenue contracts.
A recurring revenue contract allows the investor to buy a share of annual revenue as calculated on monthly revenue. Unlike some equity-related contract which would allow a possibly vulturous venture capitalist to own a piece of the company for the life for the life of the company, a recurring revenue contract allows the investor to own a piece of the annual revenue as calculated on monthly revenue, not the company, and only for the life of the contract, not the life of the company.
Pipe’s platform allows the investors to analyze data, including MRR, on various companies that are selling ARR.
